"A Fresh New Taste of God"

Lent is a time to take the time

to let the power of our faith story take hold of us,

a time to let the events

get up and walk around in us,

a time to intensify

our living into Christ,

a time to hover over

the thoughts of our hearts,

a time to place our feet in the streets of Jerusalem

or to walk along the sea and listen to his word,

a time to touch his robe

and feel the healing surge through us,

a time to ponder and a time to wonder…

Lent is a time to allow a fresh new taste of God!

Dear friends,

Those words by Ann Weems in her book Kneeling in Jerusalem, are my wish for all of us this Lenten season: that we might experience a fresh new taste of God. With the recent school shooting in Florida, we need to take the time to ponder and to wonder how we, with God’s help, might help make the world God created for us, and gave the responsibility to care for, a place where all can experience love, hope, safety, and joy.

We are in the midst of Lent and I hope you are taking the time to ponder and to wonder. Lent can be a serious time for us, but it ends with the joyous news of Easter: Life is stronger than death and New Life is possible for all! In the midst of winter, those are indeed hopeful words.

I hope you will join us this Lenten season for worship and fellowship. If you haven’t been to the church recently, I urge you to come for worship and experience the warm embrace of your sisters and brothers in Christ and see the progress of our new improvements and addition to Blough Hall. Come, and together let us experience a fresh new taste of God!

Grace, Peace, and Love,

Pastor Bill
