"Easter People"

Dear Friends,

“Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!” We hear and celebrate those words on Easter Day with trumpet, and hymns, and beautiful flowers and this year Easter Sunday, April 1st, will be no exception. I hope you will be with us as we celebrate the Resurrection!

Easter is more than a day; it should be a way of life for all of us who claim to follow Jesus. We are called “Easter People” because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we live with the assurance that life is stronger than death and love is more powerful than hate. But, truth be told: we don’t always act like that, do we? We often let the worries and burdens of the world around us weigh us down and we don’t act like Easter People. But, Christ is risen! We can face the world with the promise that the risen Christ is with us even in the darkest hour.

Ann Weems reminds us of the hope and the message of Easter for all of us:

Let it begin with singing

and never end!

Oh, angels, quit your lamenting!

Oh, pilgrims,

upon your knees in tearful prayer,

rise up

and take your hearts

and run!

We who were no people

are named anew

God’s people,

for He who was no more

is forevermore!

(from Kneeling in Jerusalem)

I wish you a glorious and blessed Easter and may we all live as Easter People as we celebrate: “Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!”

Grace, Peace, and Love,

Pastor Bill
