"Keeping the Momentum Going!"

Dear Friends,

As the Thanksgiving season approaches, we have so much for which to be thankful at First Presbyterian Church: three hundred people came to our third annual Spring for Kids, fifty-five children participated for the five days of our Vacation Bible School, we have started an exciting new Sunday School program for children, our Thursday Morning Bible Study consistently gathers 15-20 participants every week, the Good News Café is in its tenth year of service to our surrounding community, and, of course our wonderful improvements to Blough Hall and the Jackie Wolf Wing of Blough Hall are almost completed. I could go on, but as you can see, 2018 was an amazing year for our congregation!

As we look ahead to 2019, it is important that we keep the momentum going into the new year. During the weeks of November in worship, you will hear from some of your sisters and brothers in Christ about the importance of First Presbyterian Church in their lives and their families’ lives. Our Stewardship Campaign is about recognizing how we have been blessed by our loving God and about how we respond to the blessings we have received. We will start off this month with our Celebration Luncheon following worship on Sunday, November 4th. Besides some great food, we will have some wonderful entertainment and fellowship, and an opportunity to welcome our new Director of Music, Matt Rupcich. I hope you will join us.

Besides all of the other activities during the month of November, I want to especially invite you to The Service of Dedication of the Jackie Wolf Wing and Improvements to Blough Hall on Sunday, November 18th. This has been a dream for a number of years and is now coming to a wonderful conclusion. The Service will be at our normal Sunday morning worship time at 10 a.m. with an Open House for the entire Hawley community from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. The Session and I hope you will attend and join us for a great celebration!

I hope you are as excited as I am about the future of First Presbyterian Church. For 169 years, First Presbyterian Church has been a place of spiritual hope, love, and joy in Hawley and the greater Lake Region. With your support of our church, and together with God’s help, we will continue building on the past for a better tomorrow!

Grace, Peace, and Love,

Pastor Bill
