"Summer is Finally Here and We Have Air Conditioning!"
Dear Friends,
The temperature for this weekend is predicted to be 94 degrees. I guess summer is finally here! We are fortunate to live in an area of the country where we have some beautiful summers. I am reminded of the words to a hymn: “For the beauty of the earth, for the glory of the skies.” I do hope you and your loved ones will be able to enjoy this time of year, especially after the winter we had.
Here at First Presbyterian Church, things don’t slow down during the summer. We have a number of events that will definitely keep us busy. Our upcoming Vacation Bible School is a case in point. This year’s theme is “Rolling River Rampage.” Our church will be transformed into a beautiful wilderness area along the banks of a rolling river during the week of July 29th through August 3rd. With our new addition nearing completion, this year’s VBS promises to be more spectacular than ever. I am always amazed at how many of you work so hard to make our outreach to the children of our area so successful, year after year. This year, we are planning for 60 children with over twenty-five volunteer leaders and helpers!
Don’t forget the Blood Drive on August 23rd and our Annual Outdoor Worship Service and Church Picnic at Promised Land State Park on Sunday, August 26th. And, every Sunday we gather to praise God, to give thanks, to be challenged and encouraged to be the people of God in the world that especially now needs to hear words of love, justice, peace, hope and joy for all of God’s children!
